Visiting wineries on Pelješac: where to go for a wine tasting and how to book

Thirteen wineries from our book say on their own websites that they welcome visitors: ten of them name a tasting, three invite you to visit. The tables group them by the five areas of the peninsula and give, for each winery, what its website offers and how a visit is arranged. Each row links to the winery's own site.

Planning your winery visits

The Ston tourist board describes the tourist road “Pelješac vinsko carstvo” (Pelješac wine empire), which leads to every winery and tasting room on the peninsula. For one day, pick wineries in one area or two neighbouring ones; the Pelješac guide by area shows where each area lies.

What you taste depends on the winery. Vinarija Miloš lists a white wine from the Rukatac grape, a rosé, Plavac Mali reds and a dessert wine; one of Vinarija Roso's tastings pours its Rukatac, Plavac, Rose, Dingač and Prošek.

Vinarija Miloš says its tour and tasting take about one to one and a half hours. At the other wineries, ask how long a visit takes when you book.

The route onto the peninsula is on getting to Pelješac. With a visit to Miloš or Škurla, we also recommend Ston oysters.

Our Pelješac wineries directory lists the wineries from the book by village, with a link to the website of each winery that has one. The wineries that make Dingač are on Dingač wineries.

Common questions

Which Pelješac wineries offer wine tasting?
Ten wineries from our book name a tasting on their own websites: Korta Katarina in the Postup–Orebić area; Vinarija Roso and Vino Špaleta around Kuna; Jurica vino and Matuško around Potomje; Grgić vina, OPG Grgurević and Pelješki vrhovi in the Putniković–Janjina area; and Vinarija Miloš and Vinarija Škurla in the Ston–Ponikve area. Bartulović, Madirazza and Vinarija Lučić also say they welcome visitors.
Do I need to book a winery visit in advance?
At Korta Katarina, yes: tastings are by reservation only. Vinarija Miloš takes walk-in guests when there is room but recommends booking. Jurica vino asks groups to give at least two hours’ notice. Several of the others have a booking or enquiry form on their website.
Can I combine a tasting with food?
At several wineries: Korta Katarina offers tastings with tapas or a meal of several courses, Vinarija Škurla and Vinarija Roso a platter, Matuško catered local food, and the Bartulović estate has a tavern.
In which language are the tastings?
Vinarija Miloš says its tastings are in Croatian or English. At the other wineries, ask about the language when you book.
