Dingač wineries: nine Pelješac producers and their Dingač wines

Dingač is not the wine of one winery. Of the producers we describe in our book, nine list a wine called Dingač on their own websites: four in Potomje and five in the villages of Pijavičino, Kuna Pelješka and Prizdrina. The name belongs to the EU protected designation of origin Dingač, a red wine from Pelješac in Croatia that may only be made from Plavac Mali. It is entered in the EU register eAmbrosia under file number PDO-HR-A1649. The table below gives each winery's wine names, the wording it uses for them and what it says about its vineyards, all as the wineries write them.

What the wineries say about their Dingač

In Potomje, Madirazza names Dingač and Postup as its most important sites for Plavac Mali; its vineyards on Pelješac cover more than 20 ha. Jurica vino fills about 3,000 bottles of Dingač a year and has opened a tasting room and a wine bar next to the winery. Matuško lists Dingač among its red wines, alongside Postup.

In Pijavičino, Dingač is part of the company name of Dingač Skaramuča: DINGAČ - SKARAMUČA d.o.o. Vinarija Lučić writes that it named its Dingač after the vineyard site of the same name in the Pelješac wine district.

Grgić vina in Trstenik does not list a wine called Dingač, but writes that the grapes for its Plavac Mali come partly from the Dingač site.

What Dingač is: the protected designation, the slopes and the rules

Common questions

Which wineries make Dingač wine?
Of the wineries in our book, nine list a wine called Dingač on their own websites: Bura cellar, Jurica vino, Madirazza and Matuško in Potomje, Dingač Skaramuča and Vinarija Lučić in Pijavičino, Vina Palihnić and Vinarija Roso in Kuna Pelješka, and Bartulović in Prizdrina.
Is Vinarija Dingač a winery or a wine?
Vinarija Dingač is a winery: an agricultural cooperative in Potomje; the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Tourist Board says it was founded in 1902 and is the largest agricultural cooperative on Pelješac. Dingač itself is the protected designation for the wine, and the winery Dingač Skaramuča carries it in its name too. The website dingac.hr belongs to the Madirazza winery.
Where can I buy Dingač from the wineries?
Madirazza, Matuško, Vinarija Roso and Dingač Skaramuča each have a web shop on their own website, and Bartulović takes orders through its site. We do not sell wine ourselves. The wineries that welcome visitors for a tasting are listed on visiting Pelješac wineries.
