Ston Oyster Festival and Other Events on Pelješac

The calendar also includes a captains' festival in Orebić in late spring, a Dingač wine festival in June, the Ston salt festival in summer, the Ston Wall Marathon in September and open cellar days at the wineries in December.

The festival celebrates the Ston oyster, the flat oyster of Mali Ston Bay. The organisers tie it to the feast of St Joseph because, as they put it, the oysters are believed to be at their fullest and tastiest then. Their English name for it is simply Oyster Festival.
The 2026 programme ran over four days and included lectures, workshops, a quiz, guided tours, trips out to the oyster farms and workshops for children. According to the Ston tourist board, the Saturday was the high point, with fresh oysters and wine to taste all day and the local growers there in person; the tasting continued on the Sunday on the waterfronts of Mali Ston and Brijesta.
According to the Ston tourist board, the event began in 2012, organised by the tourist board and the Municipality of Ston. The product specification records an earlier revival: a small group of enthusiasts revived the St Joseph celebration in 1993.
